ABOUT B CORP

We are currently in the process of gaining B Corp accreditation, meaning we are officially on the way to certifying our commitment to both people and planet.

For those that don’t know, becoming a B Corp requires meeting a certain threshold of performance across five key organisational pillars. Those pillars are governance, workers, customers, community and environment. Below we detail more about those five pillars and how they are perceived within Givergy.

This is a journey that we have only just begun, but we are excited and determined to see how much positive social and environmental change we can affect.

Becoming a B Corp is all about committing to a different way of doing business. Instead of solely focusing on shareholders, or the bottom line of profit, through becoming a B Corp we commit to a more holistic form of decision making. One where we consider the interests of all our stakeholders, including our employees, our customers, the wider society and the environment. We are proud that this commitment is being incorporated into our company articles of association. This means that even if leaders within the company change, our commitment to people and planet will remain.

We love technology, it’s what we do. Daily, we see the benefits that having the latest fundraising tools bring to our amazing clients. However, technology on its own can be cold and even frightening. We know that it is the warmth of the people here at Givergy that bring our company, and our technology, to life. Without every member of staff who has been on the Givergy journey over the past decade, we simply wouldn’t be here and wouldn’t have helped global non-profits raise over 530M USD since our inception. To this end we try our best to make Givergy as safe and nurturing for all our employees as possible. We have policies ensuring that our working environment is compassionate, fair and inclusive. We facilitate access to counselling sessions for all staff if they need it and we pay a living wage too. What people need from work is constantly changing but we are committed to evolving and continuing to make Givergy a wonderful place to work.


Customers

We are very lucky to service some of the world’s biggest non-profits making large scale impact, as well as smaller grass roots organisations that are often pillars of their communities. Simply put, our clients, and the amazing work they do, drive us to get out of bed in the morning and come to work. We love helping them help people and much of what we do at Givergy is designed around the needs of our charity clients. We’re constantly innovating on behalf of the for good sector, making fundraising as seamless and efficient as possible. Moreover, our clients, being who they are, motivate us every day to be better. Security around data and payment processing is paramount to us and through partnering with Stripe, we ensure that all money raised for our clients is completely ringfenced.


Community

Without community, what do we really have? At Givergy we want to facilitate community across the charity sector and foster connection in our field. This is why we created the Givergy Community, providing charities with educational material and support that allows them to fundraise for their causes as effectively as possible. Moreover, our team members are encouraged to find projects that are important to them in their community and give back their time. Indeed, we give each employee over a week of paid leave every year specifically for this purpose.

We only have one planet that we can collectively call home. Yet IPCC Report after IPCC Report warns us that this planet, our home, is under grave threat of environmental breakdown unless we take serious, urgent, action to avoid it. Here at Givergy we know that business cannot be immune from those warnings and must change. Although changing is a process, through B Corp we are committed to seeing that process through. We are lucky in one sense as our business model is not built upon extracting raw materials from the earth’s already depleted resources, but we know how much we still must do.
