Delta Hospital & Community Health Foundation

WHO

The Delta Hospital is part of an 11-hospital network which all works together to serve the people of North Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen. Delta Hospital has a responsibility to care for more than 100,000 people and offers both community and emergency care across is various departments.

The foundation element of the care facility has been raising money since 1988 to the tune of $62 million. This money is essential for continuing the amazing work that the Delta hospital does and focuses on providing money for equipment, capital projects, building maintenance, and staff education.

With a vision “to provide the best healthcare possibly for our community today and for future generations”, the foundation works hard to create sustainable fundraising solutions. Their Moonlight Gala was the first event Givergy supported and as you can see, the event proved successful in continuing to share the message about the work that the Delta Foundation do.

WHAT

The 23rd Annual Moonlight Gala was Givergy’s first event in collaboration with the foundation. This event is the largest fundraising event of the year for the non-profit, making it essential to get it perfect. The Moonlight Gala is about bringing the community together in support of healthcare priorities and as such, Silent Auction, Prize Draw and Live Auction features were all used as part of the non-profits Unlimited Subscription plan.

The non-profit commented that the local community that they serve is evolving and the hospital is adapting to meet its growing needs. Givergy were chosen as the events team agreed it was time to upgrade the long-running gala with the integration of a digital fundraising platform.

Target:
$363,000

Raised:
$509,195

RESULT

Givergy features and services contributed $509,195 to The Moonlight Gala’s overall profit, with $39,570 coming from the silent auction, $14,050 from the prize draw, and $420,875 from the pledge feature.

When asked what the non-profit thought of this, Mackenzie Gaytmenn (Events & Communications Assistant), commented that:

“We are satisfied with our total revenue from this event! Our team works hard to monitor and minimize our expenses so we can proudly announce our net revenue raised at the end of the evening. In terms of dollars raised, Fund-A-Need was a great success. The donor recognition on the screens was a new element for our guests, and they did enjoy seeing the names appear while supporting our hospital. We felt that this compelled others to give”.

The silent auction feature also worked well, with more than 50% of the items sold during this element. Donors also found the system easy to use and appreciated the eye-catching appeal of the Givergy packages.

TOP TIP

“From our Foundation’s experience, we know the greatest revenue stream comes from a compelling Fund-A-Need story. Traditionally, we fundraise for equipment or specific healthcare departments during our Fund-A-Need. This year, we were raising funds for our surgical services department and had a video created to highlight the critical need for new equipment and interviewed the surgeon department head. He also was able to join us for the evening. It was a very impactful moment”.

We always recommend adding an element of storytelling into proceedings as it reminds donors of why they are at the event. It also helps to create a longstanding bond with people, which is essential for non-profits like the Delta Hospitals Foundation, who rely on repeat fundraising year after year.

“We were pleased to discover our gala guests were very comfortable with the new digital giving aspect. Our audience varies in demographic, and we received positive feedback from many guests on the Givergy integration”.
