Who

Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong (LPCUWC) is the 7th oldest member of the prestigious United World Colleges (UWC) movement. Founded in 1992, its mission is to make education a force for a peaceful and sustainable future. As a fully residential college, it brings together a remarkable coeducational community of students from over 90 nationalities, speaking more than 200 languages.


What

To fulfil its mission and continue its vital work in Hong Kong, LPCUWC organised a Gala Dinner in September 2024. The event aimed to raise critical funds for two key areas – providing 10 student scholarships, and making essential improvements to school infrastructure.

The gala featured both a silent auction in the weeks leading up to the event and a high-energy live auction on the night.


How

LPCUWC partnered with The Fundraising Agency (TFA) to execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy. A 12-month Givergy license provided the flexibility to run extended campaigns, starting with efficient ticket sales and guest management that boosted registration from day one. TFA curated a portfolio of “money-can’t-buy” items, including exclusive memorabilia from global icons like Michael Jordan, Lionel Messi, and Taylor Swift, and unique experiences like a trip to the Monaco Grand Prix 2025. Strategies like sealed bids and multiple selling were employed to maximize revenue.

A key differentiator was the use of TFA’s Fundraising Host service. TFA Co-Founder Peyami Kalyoncu took the stage to professionally host the fundraising activities. His expertise significantly increased guest participation, donor confidence, and the overall
entertainment value of the programme.

The Signature Event Package ensured seamless execution through Dedicated Project Management and support, making the entire process effortless for the LPCUWC team.


Result

The Gala Dinner was an outstanding success, raising over HK$230,000 to directly support student scholarships and critical campus upgrades. The event strengthened community bonds and set a new benchmark for future fundraising initiatives at the college.
