Guest Messaging

Maximize your event attendance and participation with guest messaging.

Guest Messaging

Overview

Guest messaging allows you to communicate key parts of your event directly to your guests via email or text message, using the Givergy system. Sending messages pre or post-event is a great way to get your guests excited and engaged.

When setting up message you have the option to send your message to specific groups of guests. For example, guests without a winning bid, guests who have already pledged, guests who did not win an auction item, and more. This allows you to tailor messages to engage with specific groups of guests.

FAQ

If you are using our pre-authorization service we can charge all the cards once a silent auction closes. Once payment has been processed the guest will receive a ‘thank you’ message.

Alternatively, a payment link can be sent once a silent auction closes. This sends an email and text message with a link for your guest to make payment. With our premium service these messages can be customised with your own wording.

Sending messages pre- or post-event is a great way to interact with your donors; however, you don’t want to over communicate. Outside of the event date, we recommend sending no more than one message per day. Be strategic about when you send your pre-event messages – in general, messages should be sent between the hours of 9am and 9pm.

When it comes to event messaging, less is more. Use messages to communicate key parts of the event, such as the appeal moment or silent auction closing, but do not continuously message throughout the event. If your guests receive too many messages, they will opt-out, and this will create confusion when payment links are sent at the end of the event. As a rule of thumb, aim for no more than 3 custom messages per event.

Givergy has the option to message guests who did not win an auction item or make a pledge and ask them to donate. This is a great opportunity to ask for a donation from someone who has already expressed interest in supporting the organization. Find out more about turning losing bids to donations.
