Accessible Fundraising for Everyone

At Givergy, we believe that fundraising should be inclusive, empowering, and accessible to everyone, no matter where they are or how they interact with technology. As a global platform operating across the UK, US, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, and beyond, we know that accessibility is essential for ensuring that every supporter can participate in charitable giving without barriers.

More people than ever rely on assistive technologies or alternative navigation methods when engaging online. This can include individuals with visual or hearing impairments, mobility limitations, cognitive differences, neurodivergence, or situational challenges such as temporary injuries or low-bandwidth environments. By improving accessibility, we’re supporting people with permanent impairments and creating a smoother, more intuitive experience for everyone.

Over the past few months, our team has made a series of improvements designed to enhance accessibility across our platform. We wanted to share some of the work already completed, along with areas we’re continuing to prioritise as part of our long-term commitment to inclusive digital fundraising.

Why Accessibility Matters

Accessibility is a core part of good digital design. People access fundraising sites using a wide range of devices, tools, and preferences. Some may use screen readers, while others navigate using a keyboard, rely on high-contrast settings, or adjust text size to improve readability.

Creating an accessible platform ensures that:

  • No supporter is excluded from donating or taking part in an event
  • Fundraisers can reach wider and more diverse audiences
  • Everyone has a fair, consistent, and positive experience
  • Events meet best-practice standards such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)

Accessible design benefits all users, not just those who depend on assistive technologies, and it ultimately strengthens the impact of every fundraising campaign.

What We’ve Improved So Far

Our development team has focused on the areas that matter most for user experience and compliance with key accessibility guidelines.

  1. Improved Screen Reader Support

We’ve reviewed and updated core areas of the platform—including donation forms, silent auction pages, and guest registration flows—to ensure better compatibility with popular screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.

This work includes:

  • Adding and refining ARIA labels
  • Ensuring interactive elements have clear, descriptive text
  • Reducing unnecessary navigation paths
  • Improving the logical reading order for assistive technology

These updates help ensure screen reader users can navigate, donate, and bid with confidence.

  1. Enhanced Keyboard Navigation

Many users navigate digital content using a keyboard alone. We’ve refined:

  • Tab order
  • Focus states and indicators
  • Menu navigation behaviour

Users can now move through event sites and dashboard pages using keyboard controls without unexpected traps or interruptions.

  1. Clearer Error Messaging

Accessible error messaging is essential for completing tasks quickly and successfully. We’ve improved:

  • The clarity and placement of visual error messages
  • How these messages are announced to screen readers
  • Links between error messages and their corresponding fields

This makes forms, bidding actions, and registration flows easier and more intuitive for all users.

  1. Consistent Heading Structure and Landmarks

A predictable heading structure helps screen reader users understand the layout of a page instantly.

We’ve standardised:

  • Page heading hierarchies (H1, H2, H3, etc.)
  • Semantic landmarks such as navigation and main content roles

This makes it easier for users to jump between sections and maintain orientation across the site.

  1. More Accessible Forms

Forms sit at the centre of many Givergy experiences, from donations to bidding and guest registration.

We’ve improved:

  • Field labels
  • Mandatory field indicators
  • Descriptive, accessible error messages
  • Logical form sequencing

These updates help ensure every supporter can complete key actions quickly and confidently.

What’s Next

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-off project. We will continue:

  • Testing against WCAG standards
  • Incorporating user feedback
  • Improving readability and clarity
  • Enhancing compatibility with assistive tools
  • Reviewing new platform features with accessibility built in from the start

Our goal is to create one of the most accessible fundraising platforms in the world, enabling supporters everywhere to engage with causes they care about.

How to Avoid Donor Fatigue Year After Year: 3 Strategies

Donor fatigue. It’s that dreaded phrase that puts a pit in the stomach of any nonprofit, PTA, or church group.

There’s a lot about donor fatigue that we can’t control. For example, current federal funding declines necessitate nonprofits to make more fundraising appeals, and recent economic volatility can make it harder for supporters to make donations.

However, there are steps you can take to prevent and respond to donor fatigue. Check out these recommendations for your campaigns and communications to keep donors engaged.

  1. Get creative with your fundraisers.

Offering a new event or campaign is a surefire way to ignite some excitement about your cause. Give your old fundraiser a makeover by upgrading to one of these ideas:

  • Sell fun treats. Especially for youth-oriented groups like schools, churches, or sports teams, selling products like popcorn, discount cards, and flower bulbs is a great way to raise money while inspiring involvement from kids and parents alike. ABC Fundraising’s school fundraising ideas guide recommends getting input from your supporters to see what initiatives they’re most excited about.
  • Host a silent auction. Create an engaging atmosphere with food, drinks, and desirable prizes at your auction. To source prizes, seek out in-kind donations from supporters and local businesses.
  • Have a movie night. Sell tickets in advance or at the door for a true theatergoer experience with movie snacks, comfy chairs, and a fun film on a projector screen. You can even show a movie related to your cause. For example, if you’re a school basketball team raising money for travel fees, you could show a movie like Air Bud.

These events aren’t just important for your short-term goals, like raising funds for a specific program or project. Donors will remember these events long after they’re over, encouraging donor loyalty.

  1. Send engaging communications.

It’s easy for donors to send a generic fundraising appeal or impact report straight to the trash. Tailoring your content to your individual supporters will catch their attention and inspire them to spend more time engaging with your messages. Here are a few easy ways to make your donors take a second look at your communications:

  • Personalize your messages. Address donors by name and reference their specific involvement with your organization in your communications. Additionally, DonorSearch’s donor database guide recommends using this type of tool to segment donors into relevant groups and personalize your communications to their needs and preferences.
  • Be a storyteller. Go beyond the typical pleas for donations by telling stories that demonstrate why your organization matters and the impact it makes. However, don’t get stuck only telling stories of pain and suffering. Fatigued donors want to feel like your organization provides hope, so be sure to include specific examples of your staff and volunteers’ triumphs.
  • Center donors’ experiences. Donors want to see themselves reflected in your communications, so try inviting engaged donors to share their testimonies in your newsletters! A donor who sees someone like them making a commitment to your organization is more likely to feel inspired to do the same.

Making your communications more personal and vivid will grab your supporters’ attention and revive their interest in your mission.

  1. Celebrate your donors.

If you only contact supporters to ask for donations and then disappear as soon as you receive them, donors may feel underappreciated and hesitate to donate again. Here are some ways you can show you appreciate your supporters:

  • Send thoughtful thank-yous. Send donors prompt, specific, and sincere thank-yous after they make a donation. Assure donors you’ve received their gift or order. Here’s an example of a thank-you you could send to a supporter who participated in your cookie dough fundraiser:

Dear Ellen,

We have received your order of two tubs of chunky chocolate chip cookie dough. Thank you for supporting the Flying Squirrels basketball team’s equipment refresh. Your generous donation makes it possible for these kids to spend another year learning teamwork, practicing sportsmanship, and having fun.

Include pictures and videos of your team or your beneficiaries to really engage donors!

  • Create a donor recognition wall. Establishing a donor wall allows you to publicly celebrate your donors. Consider opting for a digital donor wall that allows you to acknowledge different giving tiers, share donor highlights, and spotlight donors’ stories.
  • Acknowledge donor milestones and giving anniversaries. Donors don’t want to give to an organization with the memory of a goldfish. Acknowledging supporters’ continued commitment to your organization and celebrating your history together will show them you really care.

Your work wouldn’t be possible without donors’ support. Show them you appreciate their contributions so they feel valued and motivated to continue supporting your organization.

Donor fatigue is a drag for any nonprofit, but using these strategies will help you awaken donors from their slumber. Treat donors as members of your community instead of acting like they’re nothing more than a check, and it will make them want to stick around in the long run. Together, you can ensure revenue for your organization for years to come.

Examples of Nonprofit Fundraising Events + Best Practices

Imagine a local literacy nonprofit struggling to fund its after-school programs. Grant applications are drying up, and the board is hesitant about dipping further into reserves. But instead of scaling back, the staff organizes a community “Books & Brews” night at a neighborhood brewery. They invite a local author, host a book raffle to generate more revenue, line up book-themed trivia, and sell personalized bookmarks made by the kids they serve.

The result? A packed house, new monthly donors, strengthened connections between supporters and the kids they serve, and enough raised to fund their programs for the next quarter.

Nonprofit fundraising events do more than fill temporary budget needs—they energize your base, elevate your mission, and create touchpoints that turn one-time donors into loyal advocates. In this guide, we’ll explore leading event ideas, tips for planning and executing them, and how you can replicate their impact for your own cause.

FAQs About Nonprofit Event Planning

  • What’s the best time of year to host a nonprofit event? Spring and fall are typically ideal for in-person events due to favorable weather and fewer conflicts with major holidays. However, timing should also align with your donor base’s availability and the nature of your event.
  • How much lead time should you plan for? For large events like galas or tournaments, begin fundraising event planning 6-12 months in advance. Smaller events may need 3-4 months of preparation. Always include buffer time for promotion and vendor coordination.
  • How do you know if your event was successful? Measure success by assessing a combination of financial, attendance, engagement (e.g., social shares or post-event surveys), and donor retention metrics following the event.
  • What’s the average cost to host an event? Costs vary widely by event type. Galas may cost tens of thousands, while digital events can be executed for under $1,000. Create a detailed budget that includes venue, marketing, food, software, and staff time.
  • What’s a hybrid event, and should I consider one? A hybrid event blends in-person and digital fundraising experiences. This format can expand your reach, improve accessibility, and mitigate risks tied to weather or illness-related cancellations. Many of these fundraising events are in-person but can be paired with digital components to maximize participation and fundraising success!

Best for Major Gift Fundraising: Gala Dinners

Gala dinners remain a staple for nonprofits across different niches, sizes, and sectors. Successful galas often combine formal dining with emotional storytelling and recognition of major donors. A well-executed gala elevates an organization’s brand and can become a yearly landmark event.

Pro-Tips for Making Your Gala Unforgettable:

  • Use a professional emcee or local celebrity. Their presence adds credibility and keeps the program engaging and on schedule.
  • Consider working with a professional. For more involved events like these, Orr Group suggests working with a fundraising event professional who can provide guidance on best practices and handle fundraising and production logistics to take the heavy lifting off your plate.
  • Segment invites to focus on major and recurring donors. Tailored messaging helps demonstrate appreciation and reinforces donor value.
  • Offer a matching challenge during the “fund-a-need” portion. This strategy can create urgency and significantly boost donor participation rates.

Best for Engaging Corporate Sponsors: Charity Golf Tournament

Charity golf tournaments combine relaxed socializing with competitive fun, making them ideal for cultivating relationships with mid-level and major donors. Since golfers tend to have a higher net worth than the average person, golf tournaments offer many opportunities to connect with affluent donors. Not only does this help individual fundraising outcomes, but it can also attract sponsors who want to make connections with lucrative potential clients.

Pro-tips for Making Your Charity Golf Tournament a Hole-in-One:

  • Offer tiered sponsorship packages for local businesses. Every business has different budgets for sponsorships, so offer a wide variety. Diverse sponsorship levels encourage broader participation and can help you build connections, especially with beloved local businesses.
  • Choose an entertaining theme. A themed event helps you stand out from other organizations and appeal to different audiences. Be creative when choosing themes while keeping your audience in mind—for instance, a tournament with a kiddie round would only work well for family-friendly events.
  • Plan extra side activities, like hole-in-one contests. Add-ons create additional revenue opportunities and keep attendees engaged throughout the event.
  • Provide golf-related swag bags and thank-you gifts to enhance the experience. According to GolfStatus’ guide to golf tournament gift ideas, themed swag can boost goodwill and leave a lasting impression.

Best for Extended Engagement: Long-Term Themed Campaigns

Not every event needs to be one-and-done. Themed fundraising campaigns (such as a “30 Days of Giving” or “Summer of Service”) that last multiple days or weeks can keep donors engaged longer and create multiple touchpoints, ultimately strengthening their investment in your cause.

Pro-tips for Running a Long-Term Campaign That Sticks:

  • Use email, SMS, and social media for cross-channel promotion. Coordinated messaging across platforms ensures consistent branding and broader reach.
  • Highlight different stories or sub-causes daily. This variety keeps content fresh and offers supporters multiple reasons to stay involved.
  • Add a gamification layer to the campaign. You’ll need to take extra steps to maintain momentum throughout a longer campaign. Friendly competition can keep donors engaged and motivate them to give more or more often. For instance, you might offer a donor leaderboards or goal thermometers that update in real time.

Best for Budget-Friendly Fundraising: Digital Events

Fundraising success isn’t limited to ballrooms and golf courses. Virtual events—from livestream telethons to online trivia nights—have become essential tools for nonprofits looking to reach wider audiences and lower logistical barriers. These digital gatherings also give organizations a chance to experiment with creative formats, whether it’s a virtual art auction or a panel of guest speakers sharing impact stories.

Pro-tips for Making Your Digital Event Feel Anything But Distant:

  • Evoke emotion whenever possible. It can be challenging to evoke emotions through a screen. Increase connection by hiring a high-energy host, highlighting pre-recorded mission marketing spots, and shouting out people you serve.
  • Open up a live chat or moderated Q&A. This interactive idea helps guests feel like they’re part of the action, not just watching from the sidelines.
  • Keep the momentum going post-event. After the event, repurpose your event content to secure easy wins for continued engagement. For example, slice up your footage into highlight reels and donor thank-you posts for social media.

Wrapping Up

Event-based fundraising remains vital for nonprofit visibility and revenue. As you start considering which events to offer, remember that each format offers lessons that any nonprofit can adopt. Regardless of the event theme, the most successful ones:

  • Align closely with the organization’s brand and audience
  • Use storytelling to resonate emotionally
  • Incorporate digital tools to improve efficiency and reach

By learning from standout event examples—whether digital, themed, or traditional—you can craft memorable experiences that resonate with donors and drive better fundraising outcomes for your mission.

Event Fundraising Just Got Easier: 5 Powerful Features of the Givergy Event App

The lights are low, guests are arriving, and the buzz of your big fundraiser is building. You’re fielding questions about raffle tickets, sorting out seating hiccups, and keeping an eye on your auction. All while bouncing between the floor and a laptop in the corner.

What is a Fundraising Event App?

A fundraising event app is a mobile tool designed to streamline event management by giving organisers live access to everything from guest check-ins to bidding activity. Rather than relying on paper spreadsheets or stationary desktops, a fundraising app brings all the functionality of a fundraising platform directly to your phone or tablet. Meaning you can respond to issues on the fly and engage guests more easily.

Below are 5 features that make this possible.

  1. Sell Raffle Tickets on the Go

Running a raffle? Now you can sell tickets directly from your phone, wherever you are in the venue. No need for printed tickets or card machines. Just a few taps and you’re raising more.

  1. Track Guest Check-ins and View Table Layouts

Forget the paper lists and guesswork. The app lets you monitor guest arrivals, check who’s checked in, and access a clear, live table layout. That means you can resolve seating issues and keep things flowing without disrupting the night.

  1. Retract and Manage Bids Instantly

During the excitement of a silent auction mistakes can happen. Whether it’s a guest bidding too quickly or a number entered in error. With the Event App, you can view and retract live bids in real-time, ensuring a smooth and fair bidding experience without scrambling back to your admin hub.

  1. Simplify Checkout with Smart Payment Options

The Event App supports surcharge handling, donor tip options, and displays the last four digits of a donor’s card. This will make checkout more transparent and efficient for both you and your guests.

  1. Stay in the Loop with Real-Time Guest Activity(Coming Soon)

Want to see who’s bidding, donating, or checking in? The app gives you a live snapshot of guest behaviour and payment activity, so you can spot momentum, solve issues early, and seize fundraising opportunities as they arise.

4 Exciting Digital Fundraising Trends To Embrace This Year

The way you raise money for your organization is constantly evolving. Gone are the days of relying solely on traditional bake sales or high-end galas to achieve your funding goals (though these fun events definitely have a place in a well-rounded fundraising strategy!). Nowadays, the name of the game is digital fundraising.

Also referred to as online or virtual fundraising, digital fundraising uses online technology to raise money for a specific cause. According to Cornershop Creative, there are several benefits to embracing digital fundraising, such as saving money on traditional fundraising costs, getting a rapid response in times of crisis or extreme need, and expanding engagement beyond geographical borders.

If you’re ready to experience these benefits, you first need to understand the current digital fundraising trends that are turning donors’ heads and getting them excited about making a difference. Get started by reviewing our roundup of tried-and-true trends that you can use in 2025!

1. Mobile-First Fundraising

Mobile-first fundraising allows you to meet your donors where they’re at—their smartphones! After all, the Pew Research Center reports that 91% of Americans own a smartphone. Further, Americans spend an average of 5 hours and 16 minutes daily on their phones.

This is good news for your organization—if you can learn how to grab your supporters’ attention through mobile fundraising, you can connect with them regularly and raise more money and awareness for your work.

Here are some strategies to increase your chances of securing donations from smartphone users:

  • Optimize and maintain your donation page with mobile devices in mind. Your online donation page is where all the action happens with mobile-first fundraising, so ensure you’re prepared for mobile visitors. The page should be responsive, meaning it adjusts automatically to different screen sizes. Also, make sure the page loads quickly and elements like forms, buttons, and images are easy to navigate.
  • Design a text-to-give campaign. With this type of fundraiser, your organization sets up a mobile donation number and shares a special keyword with its supporters. When they text that keyword to the donation number, they’ll be prompted to follow a link to make a donation. Ensure the keyword you pick is easy to remember and type out. For instance, “Give4CancerResearch” is easier to remember than a long scramble of random numbers and letters.
  • Allow supporters to participate in events from their phones. Consider hosting virtual events that supporters can participate in from wherever they are. For example, with an auction, you can use online auction software to allow donors to bid from their mobile phones and notify them when they’ve been outbid. You can also use livestream technology to interact with mobile participants.

2. Matching Gifts

Many fundraisers find it challenging to balance the need to raise more money for their causes while being mindful of how often they ask donors to give. Donor fatigue is a real issue that can quickly become an insurmountable challenge for organizations that fail to find the right balance.

Matching gifts offers a creative—and lucrative—digital fundraising solution for organizations and donors alike. Through this form of corporate philanthropy, donors’ employers financially match donations donors make to your organization.

Here’s how the process works:

  1. A donor gives to your organization.
  2. The donor checks their corporate matching gift eligibility using a matching gifts database on your organization’s website.
  3. After confirming that their employer offers matching gifts, the donor fills out any necessary online forms provided by the database tool to kickstart the matching process.
  4. The donor’s employer reviews the forms and confirms the donation with the nonprofit.
  5. The company sends the nonprofit a donation.

Every company’s matching gift program will look a little different. Employers have different rules for what types of nonprofits they’ll match gifts for, the types of employees eligible to use the programs (for example, full-time employees versus part-time employees), and the ratio at which they match gifts. Most companies will match at a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio, but some will offer a 3:1 ratio!

Here’s an example to illustrate what matching gifts can do for your organization: Say Shayla, an employee at Deloitte, gives $50 to your nonprofit. She finds out she’s eligible for a 1:1 donation match and submits the required paperwork to the company. A few days later, your organization receives a check for $50 from Deloitte. The matched gift has essentially doubled the amount and impact of Shayla’s gift without requiring her to reach back into her wallet!

To take full advantage of matching gifts, you need to market them effectively. Create a page on your organization’s website that explains the process, and encourage donors to check their eligibility when you promote your digital fundraising campaigns. You can even shout out donors who take advantage of matching gifts on your blog to inspire others to do the same.

3. Recurring Giving Programs

A steady source of revenue is essential for sustainable, long-term success. This is best achieved by tapping into multiple streams of fundraising dollars all at once, and one of the most popular digital types is a recurring giving program.

With recurring giving programs, donors can opt into giving your organization a set amount of money each month. And though this typically means donors give a smaller amount of money each time they donate, that amount adds up over time. According to Double the Donation, the average monthly gift is $24, which results in an annual donation total of $288. This is actually more than the average one-time donation amount of $115!

To set up a recurring giving program, revisit your online donation page. Offer an option on the page to turn a one-time gift into a recurring gift. This will allow your donors to “set and forget” their donations so that they’re billed monthly and don’t have to take any further action.

Also, consider creating a recurring giving society to build a community around your program. You can offer recurring donors perks like exclusive newsletters or early access to event tickets, which will help them feel seen and valued for their consistent contributions.

From time to time, you should also check in with your recurring donors to ensure their giving details, such as payment information, contact information, and giving amounts, are current. This can serve as a great touchpoint for encouraging donors to level up their giving or just to say thank you for all their support!

4. AI-Powered Donor Engagement

By now, your organization has at least heard about the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in nonprofit fundraising and marketing strategies. Or, maybe you’ve even tried out some popular AI tools like ChatGPT yourself! After all, research shows that nonprofits are embracing AI faster than for-profit organizations.

There’s no doubt that AI is here to stay, so whatever your level of adoption has been so far, consider strengthening your digital fundraising efforts by embracing it further. One of the best places to start is using AI for donor engagement.

Two types of AI can help you connect with your donors and pave the way for better fundraising results:

  • Generative AI, which creates original content, such as copy, images and video.
    • Examples: ChatGPT, which offers written responses to user prompts, and DALL-E, which can create original images based on user prompts
  • Predictive AI, which analyzes data and offers predictions or recommendations based on that data.
    • Examples: AI features in your CRM that allow for marketing automation or donor segmentation

Predictive AI tools can help you better understand who your donors are, what they value, and how best to reach out to them. Some tools can even recommend how big of a donation to ask for, when to ask for it, and how.

Generative AI tools are best for helping you shape your messaging, whether you need to write personalized fundraising appeals for a dozen major donors or create a series of Facebook posts for an upcoming fundraising event.

A word to the wise: While these AI tools offer nearly endless possibilities for improving your donor engagement strategies on a vast scale, proceed with care and apply a critical eye to any output an AI tool provides you with. You know your organization and its community best! Plus, the human touch is always going to be an important part of fundraising, even in digital spaces, and your donors deserve messages and experiences that feel personal and genuine.

Digital fundraising is the new frontier for any type of organization that relies on fundraising. And by staying up to date on digital fundraising trends like the ones described above, you can ensure that your future fundraising campaigns are primed to help you achieve your goals and build relationships with those who support you.

Unique Fundraising Ideas for Easter 2024

At Givergy, we love seasonal occasions because it’s the perfect opportunity to raise more! Easter is a joyous celebration for many people around the world. It’s a time to celebrate renewal, rebirth and new beginnings. It’s also a time to host various fundraising campaigns that can make a significant impact on different communities. You need unique and ‘fun’ fundraising ideas to stand out and attract donors if you want to elevate fundraising potential.

Below we have gathered some memorable ways to bring in essential donations at a time of year when people are looking to treat others and celebrate within communities. If any of these sound like something that your organisation could benefit from, contact our team now to get the eggs rolling!

Why Is Easter A Good Time To Raise Money?

Easter is a widely celebrated holiday within the Christian calendar. It is a time when individuals often feel more inclined to give back and demonstrate acts of kindness and generosity. This spirit of giving can be leveraged to encourage people to donate to charitable causes or participate in fundraising events.

Easter is also a great time to connect with donors as it commonly represents a period when families and communities come together for meals, outings and other social activities. These gatherings create opportunities to promote your fundraising cause and generate awareness. By creating seasonal events, such as Easter gatherings, you can tap into the sense of community and bring people together in support of a common goal. By leveraging these factors, you can effectively raise money for your cause and make a positive impact on your organisation or the community you serve.

Givergy’s 2024 Easter Fundraising Ideas

Do you need more of a wiggle in your tail or crunch in your chocolate? Easter events are a great idea but will only be a huge success if you put extra time and attention into the planning phases. To assist you, we have come up with some playful ideas you can take inspiration from to throw some brilliant events.

Online Easter Basket Auction

Everyone loves an online auction, especially when it’s got a seasonal theme! We think an easter themed auction is a fantastic way to bring in more money as you can get truly creative with the auction items. Anything from Easter baskets to fancy celebration meals can all be tied into with the celebrations that traditionally take place at this time of year.

The benefit of an online auction is also that you can keep overheads down whilst reaching a large audience and give you more fundraising potential overall.

Bunny Fun Run or Walk

Live fundraising events can be used in many ways when it comes to seasonal occasions making them a fun way to engage donors. Why not try thinking outside of the box and holding an Easter-themed Bunny Fun Run or Walk event where participants dress up in bunny costumes and collect sponsors for each kilometer or mile they complete. Promote the event through social media and encourage participants to fundraise for a cause while enjoying a fun and active Easter-themed activity.

Family Easter Craft Day

Hosting a Family Easter Craft Day is a wonderful way to bring families together for a fun and creative celebration. You can use it as a way to create a positive emotional link to your cause as well as raising money. A great way to bring in donations is to consider hosting this as a ticketed event.

Easter Baking Competition

Something synonymous with Easter are sweet treats. By running an old-fashioned bake sale you can appeal to donors young and old. This could be virtual, using online retailers to support you, or part of a wider in-person occasion. You can get truly creative with this idea!

Choose Givergy For Seasonal Events

Labor Day Fundraising Ideas for 2023

Is there a better excuse than Labor Day to celebrate your patriotism with everything red, white, and blue? We think not!

With everyone feeling ready to celebrate and spirits high, it is the perfect opportunity to remind people about your fundraising cause. As the festivities approach, many individuals and organizations prepare to host events, while others plan to use this holiday to raise funds for their cause. That being said, organizing a fundraising event can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be.

We’ve compiled a list of five Labor Day fundraising ideas for 2023 that are engaging and creative, offering the perfect complement to ongoing celebrations.

Why should you use Labor Day as a fundraising opportunity?

Capitalize on the holiday spirit: One of the biggest advantages of using Labor Day as a fundraising opportunity is that people are still in a generous and giving mood despite summer coming to an end. They’re more likely to donate to a good cause and support organizations that align with their values.

Focus on workers’ issues: Labor Day is all about celebrating the contributions of American workers to society and highlighting the challenges they face in today’s economy. This presents an opportunity for you to bring attention to the issues that matter to workers and their families, such as fair wages, healthcare, equal pay, and job security. If your nonprofit is focused on any labor-related causes, you should really maximize the holiday for your messaging.

Thank your donors and supporters: Finally, don’t forget to thank your donors and supporters for their contributions and support. Use Labor Day as a moment to express your gratitude and show how their donations are making a difference in the lives of workers and their families. This can help build long-term relationships with your donors and encourage them to continue supporting your cause in the future.

Top Fundraising Ideas for Labor Day:

  1. Create auctions showcasing the best USA-themed consignment items.

This could be either a live auction or a silent auction that is packed full to the brim with experiences, gifts and vacations that showcase the best the country has to offer. By having a clear theme, you are able to capitalize on the Labor day celebrations perfectly.

  1. Organize a Bake Sale or hold a BBQ

Baked goods always stay in style, be it any event or occasion. Labor Day is a great opportunity to bake and sell your homemade goodies for a good cause when people are looking for some good food to celebrate!

Aside from offering traditional bakery items, you can get creative and offer themed snacks or meals that are popular on Labor Day, such as barbecues, hot dogs, hamburgers, and desserts.

Nothing screams Labour Day more than a traditional barbecue if you are more interested in an outdoor event. Consider giving it an old-fashioned touch by serving meals in tin-foil plates and disposable cups to make it interesting. For dessert, serve apple pies or cupcakes with edible American flag images. To collect funds, charge a small fee per plate or simply ask for a donation.

  1. Host a mini-games tournament.

Everyone loves friendly competition, and there’s no better way to add life to your Labor Day party than by hosting a mini-games tournament. Consider including classics such as Twister, horseshoes, or cornhole, and award prizes to the winners. You can charge for entry or ask for a donation.

  1. Patriotic Karaoke.

Karaoke is always a crowd-pleaser, and it’s even better when it’s patriotic. To add a fun twist, organize a karaoke competition where participants sing songs inspired by American history or culture. You can charge an entry fee, provide prizes for the winner, or take donations for your cause.

  1. Outdoor Movie Night.

Finish off your Labor Day party with a bang by hosting an outdoor movie night. Rent a projection screen, use a white wall, and display a patriotic movie such as “Independence Day” or “Captain America” to end the evening. Charge for admission or ask for donations.

Labor Day is a great opportunity to bond with family and celebrate the hardworking citizens of the country. However, you can use this day to make a difference by raising funds for a worthy cause. The ideas mentioned in this post will add excitement to your Labor Day party and help you collect funds. So go ahead, put on your thinking cap, and plan the perfect Labor Day party that will impress your guests and make a difference.
