{"id":75198,"date":"2020-07-16T18:07:31","date_gmt":"2020-07-16T18:07:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.givergy.com\/blog\/83-of-charities-still-fundraising-in-2020\/"},"modified":"2025-08-29T12:34:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T12:34:11","slug":"83-of-charities-still-fundraising-in-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.givergy.com\/uk\/blog\/83-of-charities-still-fundraising-in-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"83% of charities still fundraising in 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With murmurs of \u2018second waves\u2019 and \u2018new social distancing\u2019 rules coming into play across the globe, there is understandably some concern and uncertainty regarding fundraising in the Autumn season and throughout the remainder of 2020.<\/p>\n<p>As one of many businesses trying to navigate these murky waters, we decided to send a quick survey to our global clients to gauge the <strong>appetite for fundraising<\/strong> for the rest of 2020 and get a feel for what, specifically, our charity clients were focusing on.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Many thanks<\/strong> to all who completed the survey; from over 500 clients we accumulated the below results:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>83% of global charities<\/strong> are still looking to fundraise in some capacity in 2020<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The highest ranking was creating <strong>an online fundraising campaign<\/strong> \u2013 35%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Hosting a <strong>Virtual Gala<\/strong> was next at 22%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>18% of our clients are going to host a <strong>\u2018hybrid\u2019 event<\/strong> \u2013 with a small number of guests at a venue and the event \/ fundraising streamed live to incorporate an online audience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>8% of clients are still planning to hold some sort of <strong>live event<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>17% of our clients have decided to put <strong>fundraising on hold for 2020<\/strong> and will no doubt look to make up lost revenue in 2021<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Clearly, the will to fundraise and <strong>drive crucial revenue<\/strong> is still at the forefront of many charities\u2019 minds, at a time when support for most organisations is absolutely essential.<\/p>\n<p>The good news is from the many <strong>online fundraising campaigns<\/strong> and <strong>virtual galas<\/strong> we\u2019ve supported since COVID-19 gripped the world, clients have seen some incredible results, with many surpassing funds raised from live charitable events in 2019.
