The Sick Children's Trust

WHO

The Sick Children’s Trust, an existing Givergy client, provides ‘Homes from Home’ around the UK so that the families of sick children in hospital have a free and welcoming place to stay, giving them one less thing to worry about.  Without their vital ‘Homes from Home’, families with a sick child in hospital would have to travel long distances or stay in expensive hotels to be by their child’s side.  But they’re more than bricks and mortar, their friendly, caring staff are there to support families when they really need it.

The charity’s vision is to “work to a future where every family with a seriously ill child in hospital can stay together, close to their child’s hospital bedside”.

As you can imagine, this requires constant fundraising to motivate financial donations and improve brand awareness.

Event Highlights

We spoke with Lindsay Hunter, Senior Special Events Officer, who ran this event as her first with the organisation.

Givergy supported the in-person event with a Silent Auction, Pledges, and Event Staffing for Payment Collection to help things run smoothly. Lindsay commented that she loved the event and that everything worked well, especially with the mobile bidding process.

The charity sourced its own auction items and found the Givergy system easy to update with the relevant information. This was particularly important as there were 40 prizes on offer in honour of the organisation’s 40th anniversary.

The bids had been rolling in before the event, but the success continued when the live proceedings started. The team felt that the pledge system and totaliser worked well to keep the pace in the room and the strong momentum of money rolling in. It also added an exciting buzz which made for a brilliant ambience.

One of the biggest challenges for the charity was running the event as a hybrid, as there were many moving parts. They felt that the Givergy team supported them well and helped resolve any problems.

RESULT

The total of £57,239 was raised from the live auction, silent auction, and pledges combined. This showcases how making different donation techniques available can boost the overall success of your campaign..

“Emma on the night was amazing, very calm and super helpful. Hannah, our CSM, was also brilliant before and after the event. The support team was also quick at coming back.”.
